Our Vision

Forming Leaders
for Church
& Society

Lanka Bible College & Seminary is one of Sri Lanka's premier evangelical theological institutions. Our mission is serving and equipping Christian leaders through holistic curriculum — in residential, non-residential, and online settings — to make a transformative impact on church and society.

We serve Sri Lanka's multi-religious, multi-ethnic context with deep theological seriousness. Our graduates engage Buddhist, Hindu, and Muslim neighbours with grace and truth, lead in reconciliation across ethnic lines, and plant churches that serve their whole communities.

Everything we do flows from one conviction: that genuine transformation — of persons, churches, and societies — begins with an encounter with the living God revealed in Jesus Christ.

Partnership with the local church
Biblical foundation in all things

Obedience to the Great Commission

Spiritual Formation

At the heart of LBCS is a belief that education must first form the person. Students engage in regular prayer, fasting, worship, and spiritual retreats — not as extras, but as the core of training.

Relational Formation

Effective ministry is deeply relational. We develop empathy, communication, and conflict resolution through community life, mentorship, and weekend ministries — because the church is a body, not a classroom.

Personal Formation

We invest in the whole person — intellect, character, and emotional resilience. Our curriculum includes pastoral care, leadership development, and workshops on self-awareness and wellbeing.

Contextual Relevance

Theology that doesn't engage Sri Lanka isn't theology for Sri Lanka. We incorporate local case studies, contextual theology, and field education so graduates serve with wisdom in their own settings.

School of
Worship & Music

The LBCS School of Worship & Music is launching a two-year Diploma in Worship and Music Ministry — the first program of its kind at LBCS, designed to form worshippers before musicians.

Rooted in biblical theology, shaped by Sri Lanka's multi-ethnic realities, and grounded in the Holy Spirit, this program raises a generation of worship leaders who serve the church in spirit and in truth.

📖

Head — Theological Depth

Biblical theology of worship, integrative theology, church music history, and apologetics. Strong grounding in Scripture — avoiding shallow, emotion-only worship.

🙏

Heart — Spiritual Formation

Devotional life, holiness, character, humility and accountability. You will be formed as a worshipper before you are trained as a musician.

🎸

Hands — Musical Competence

Vocal training, instrumental studies, music theory, songwriting, sound technology, and leading congregational worship across language settings.

🌏

Contextual Worship for Sri Lanka

Writing contextual worship songs, engaging Buddhist and Hindu backgrounds, multi-ethnic worship leading, and worship as mission in our unique Sri Lankan setting.

Invest in the
Next Generation

Sri Lanka's churches need leaders who are theologically grounded, spiritually formed, and equipped to serve faithfully in a complex and multi-religious society. LBCS exists to raise exactly those leaders — and your partnership makes it possible.

When you give to LBCS, you are investing in men and women who will go on to pastor local churches, plant new congregations, lead children's ministries, train the next generation of worship leaders, and bring the gospel to communities across Sri Lanka.

Every gift — however large or small — directly funds student scholarships, faculty development, library and learning resources, and the infrastructure that makes transformational theological education possible.

"The things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others."
— 2 Timothy 2:2

This is the vision of LBCS — faithful teaching, passed on through generations of leaders who will shape the church of Sri Lanka for decades to come. Your generosity is part of that chain.
