T he library is the essential part of the College Academic program. It is designed to enhance the student's education with available resources to allow extensive independent study on all subjects offered. Sinhala and Tamil students, however, may find that the resources available are limited compared to English. Nevertheless, the library staff is doing their best to upgrade the facility with every resource available.

The staff is eager to assist any student locate material and to answer any questions that one has about the library, its resources ans its use.


The library is open from 9.00 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. Monday - Friday. The Library will be closed on public holidays.


  1. The Library membership fee is Rs.1600.00 per year and the Deposit is Rs. 900.00. Library membership is valid only for one year. If and whenever you wish to renew your membership, you would be asked to produce all library cards.
  2. Please remember that your membership card is personal and not transferable to a third party.
  3. Those outside the LBCS community are welcome to use the Library. Their application for membership should be recommended by staff or faculty member of LBCS. Library membership fee is Rs. 1300.00 per year and the Deposit is Rs. 2000.00.


Constitutes over 35.600 English books, over 4,000 Sinhala books, over 4,000 Tamil books and over 250 Journals/Magazines in all three languages.


The reference library contains set of commentaries, reference works such as encyclopedias, dictionaries etc. These reference books have a 'R' on the spine of the book. Books from the reference section cannot be borrowed.


This section consists of books that are preempted for essential reading on the ongoing courses. Therefore, these books are for  Reserved only. However, these books can be taken out per day. The book(s) should be signed out before taking away from the library property and have to be returned before 9.30 a.m. on next day. A fine of Rs. 10.00 per hour each book will be imposed on any student who fails to return the book(s) on time. Students should always follow proper library procedures on removing any library materials.


Back issues of Journals/Magazines can be checked out with the permission of the Librarian.


Computers are available in the library for the use of all students. Students will be taught computer on a regular basis. Examination will be conducted every term. See term calendar for details. Rules applicable to other LBCS examinations apply here as well.


Our new collection includes DVD-ROM Titles plus other electronic references works.


Internet facilities are available in the library for the use of all students. You can use your laptops around the library with wireless internet facility.


A large selection of Biblical teaching is available from our video cassette, VCD & DVD library.


Borrowing is usually for 2 weeks. For those who live outside Kandy, the duration is one month.


Please remember that the item borrowed have to be renewed at the Library counter. Renewals cannot be done by telephone.


To reserve a book currently on loan to someone else, enter your name and details to the book on a sheet of paper and hand it over to the counter staff. You will be notified when the book is available. Reservation charges are mentioned in the table given below.

If you loose borrowed items, you are responsible for informing the library as soon as possible. You will be required to reimburse to the library the cost of the lost items. The librarian will inform you about the amount to be reimbursed.

  • Center for Ethnic Studies, Mugampola.
  • LBC Link Libraries.




Student Payments 2018 - Diploma/B.Th/B.A.mm/M.Div

  • ADMISSION FEE: - A onetime payment of Rs.7500/- to be paid on the day of admission.
  • FOR RESIDENTIAL STUDENTS:-Total cost of tuition, board and lodging per student is approximately over 16000/-per month. However, LBC is committed to assist your church in raising a large portion of this cost. The balance of Rs.4000/-per month will have to be paid by your church. Residential students will also pay Rs.1250/- per month as facility fees which entitles the following:
  • Library Membership Fee for 2 years
  • Internet and E-mail
  • Meals and Accommodation
  • Usage of Sports room and sports equipment
  • Electricity and Water
  • DAY STUDENTS:- Rs.975/-per credit hour per term plus a facility fee of Rs.4650/-* per term. If a student is following a 2 credit hour course, the fee will be 2*975/- plus the facility fee of Rs.4650/-. (1950+4650= Rs.6600/-)

*Note that the above facilities are entitled to Day scholars as well.

M.Div                    Rs.4950/-

  • LIBRARY: A Membership ID of Rs.300/- will be issued for two years. (Books will be issued only for ID holders)
  • MEDICAL EXPENSES: The College will meet all Emergency student medical expenses but they

must be reimbursed before the term examinations.
