BCS originated as a result cooperate efforts of some local pastors with a group of missionaries in Sri Lanka. It originated with 12 students and today it has turned out to be the largest Seminary in Sri Lanka. We thank God for the vision of these men and women of God who planted the seed for the glory of God in training men and women for the work of the Kingdom.

The vision of LBCS is to be a center of excellence in training faithful men and women for taking up leadership in the church of Jesus Christ and fulfill God's mission on earth.

To Educate and train servant leaders with biblical attitudes through holistic curricula and to develop professional skills and research skills and empower students to be relevant to his or her social context in order to be effective in life and ministry for the glory of God.

anka Bible College and Seminary exists to serve the church of Jesus Christ by equipping pastors and leaders for the manifold ministries of the church in Sri Lanka and beyond. This purpose is evidently expressed in the college motto, “Study and Serve” based on 2 Timothy 2:15. LBCS provides a learning atmosphere for holistic faith and spiritual formation whereby the great commandment “loving God and loving your neighbor” is evidently practiced. LBCS focuses on developing intellectual, spiritual, physical, social and emotional development of the trainee in order to fulfill the “Great Commission” given by our Lord. The course syllabi are designed with the objective of developing students' knowledge, skills and attitudes that are relevant to the ministry context of Sri Lanka and beyond.
